The House on the Inside- Part 1

I know some of you have been waiting for photos of the inside of the house.  Well today is your lucky day!  I have been painting each room and as I go along I will post before and after photos here.  There is LOTS of painting to do- every square inch inside and outside needs to be painted.  Now I actually like painting but this is getting to be tiring.  The ceilings, the walls, the trim- and everything needs 2 coats and/or primer due to weird, dark colors the previous owner had.  And not to mention how the outside of our house was never finished being painted at the top of the 2nd story.  I mean who doesn’t finish painting?!?!  And then just leaves the house 2 different colors?  So the outside will be painted as well but that is for another day and I want to hire someone for that job.  Now here are the before photos of the living room.  Notice the hunter green crown molding on only part of the ceiling and the lovely fake laminate wood floors that were covering the original wood floors.  Even though the wood floors were painted they were still in very good condition which was good news for us.

After sanding and stain the floors turned out beautiful.  My mother-in-law helping to paint this room- thanks so much!  Here is the after:

Just ignore the plastic- I’m still painting!  The dining room is connected to the Living room and had ugly, cream colored, stained carpet on the floors.  This carpet was also on the stairs, upstairs hallway and in the 2 spare bedrooms.  It took us a long time to remove all the staples from the carpet but it was worth it because the floors turned out so nice!

And after- I still need to paint all the trim in the dining room- hence the paper on the floors.  I also want to get this chandelier from Pottery Barn.  We have some other furniture for this room as well- a hutch from my Great Aunt and a dining room table from my parents.  I also want to add matchstick shades and some curtains to dress this room up a bit more.  Marissa helped to paint this room- thanks!

The Kitchen looks about the same- ugly wallpaper will be removed but that is a long project for another day.  At least I removed the matching curtains that had never been washed!  This is not an eat in kitchen so we will eat in the dining room for every meal- which I really like!  Why have a dining room if you don’t eat in it?

These are the only before pics I have of the office- but maybe Chris has some before the sanding.  Anyway this is the smallest bedroom- now the office and it’s completely painted.

And the after- I LOVE the color!  I am going to hang my Endless Summer poster here- can’t wait:)  Not totally unpacked but much more organized that it was 2 days ago- ha!  Also we are going to get a new light for this room so ignore the hanging light fixture- it’s missing the glass part and it’s brass which I do not care for.  Oh I didn’t paint the window panes yet so that is why the top one here is blue- it will be white.

And a little bit of the beach- can’t wait for summer and all the sessions I have booked!  Totally ready for flip-flops and dresses.
