It’s so fun to have family visit and give you ideas on what to do while they are in town. My sister and dad had never walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and neither had my Aunt or Uncle so when they came to visit from Chicago we planned to do it! It’s funny when you live somewhere but never really see the local sights or think you can do that later or any old time you feel like it. But guess what you never end up doing it! It’s nice to be a tourist for the day.
When I lived in Florence for a semester during college I kept saying I wanted to climb the stairs to the top of the Duomo but I kept putting it off for nicer spring like weather and bam then the wait line started to get longer and longer each day(2-3 hours sometimes!) with tourists so I never end up seeing the view from up there. I want to go back one day just to make that climb, OK and to eat gelato everyday, who am I kidding!
It was a gorgeous day to cross the bridge and we had the nicest tour guide to tell us about the history of the bridge and parts of Brooklyn. It was a bit crowded and of course there was a protest but hey it is New York! If you live in NYC/NJ and have never done this or are just visiting I highly suggest a Brooklyn Bridge walking tour! Six miles later we relaxed in the backyard of my sisters apartment sipping Mojitos and eating some tacos- the perfect end to a fun day. 🙂
