Luke on Film

I think it was about a year ago that my mother in law gave me her old Pentax 35mm film camera to try out since she no longer used it.  I had purchased some film and took it along with us on our vacation to Martha’s Vineyard but had a few shots left on one of the rolls of film.  We were going to see Luke over Thanksgiving so I thought it would be perfect to use it up then!

I have to say that I have A LOT to  learn when shooting film but these few images didn’t come out too bad considering I haven’t shot film on manual focus ever and you can’t look at the back of the camera to see if your shots are coming out how you want them too!  I may have done that more than once;)  I also do not have a light meter but was relying on the in camera meter for my settings, which seemed to work out alright for now but it wasn’t perfect.  I would LOVE to get a film camera body that I would be able to use with my Canon lenses so it’s going on the wish list this year.  I did absolutely no editing(except to remove a scratch on his face) to these after I received the scans from Indie Film Lab which is a nice break from how I work digitally.  The colors were just how I like them and I think the contrast was nice too.  I can get used to this no editing thing, that’s for sure!  I am interested in taking a film workshop but the one I wanted to take is 16 days before my due date so I’m not sure it’s wise to sign up for that one since it’s a 3 day workshop not too close to home.  Anyway I will be sharing some more film work over the next month form our trip to Martha’s Vineyard so come back soon.

So have you always wanted to try film photography?  Do you have any tips or suggestions?  Please let a comment I would love to hear from you!

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to meeting you and your favorite people!
